Honeywell in Saudi Arabia: Wireless Instrumentation at SAMREF Refinery

A Saudi Aramco–ExxonMobil joint venture, SAMREF, deployed Honeywell’s OneWireless™ network across its Yanbu refinery to eliminate blind spots in hazardous zones. By integrating STA800 pressure transmitters and OmniPoint™ gas detectors into a unified wireless infrastructure, the facility reduced emergency response time by 30% and achieved 99.8% sensor uptime. The system now supports real-time video streaming from CCTV nodes, enabling centralized control room operators to monitor gas leaks and pressure anomalies without physical patrols.

Honeywell & ADNOC’s AI-Driven Control Room at Borouge (Ruwais, UAE)

In partnership with ADNOC’s Borouge, Honeywell is piloting the world’s first full-scale AI-assisted control room for petrochemical operations. Leveraging Experion PKS and AI-Assisted Experion Operations Assistant, the system predicts pressure deviations and gas concentration spikes using digital twin models trained on 12 million sensor data points. Early results show a 15% reduction in energy consumption and 20% fewer unplanned shutdowns. This project positions Honeywell not as a vendor—but as a digital transformation partner for the UAE’s next-generation industrial infrastructure.
